Annual Dr. Seuss Cake Contest

My awesome second grader and I designed and created a cake for the second year in a row for the elementary school's annual Dr. Seuss cake competition. Little sister also pitched in to help with the fondant decorations. The girls did all of the polka dots, balls, and stripes. Mommy created the fondant characters. We used the page shown below from "The Cat in the Hat" as our inspiration. The cake was on display in the school's media center all day. It continued to be on display during Family Reading Night at the school that evening. We won some prize money to be spent at the school book fair later this year! I've included photos of our cake last year for comparison. We toned it down this year to save money and time!
