Watching the Thunderbird Air Show From Kennesaw Mountain

The Thunderbirds were in town this weekend for the Airshow Over Marietta at Dobbins Air Force Base--the military post where I got my first military ID, incidentally! By the time church got out, all of the parking lots for the air show were full, so we took our neighbor's suggestion and went to Kennesaw Mountain to watch the planes. Once again, the weather was absolutely gorgeous! We spent about four hours hiking up and down the mountain. With two little girls and a two-pound dog, it was slow-going to say the least! The girls wanted to climb up every rock they passed! The air show itself was quite far away from the mountain, but we were able to hear a lot of noise and witness a few cool tricks. We've decided to hike the mountain more often!

We were only a quarter of the way up the mountain, and the girls were acting exhausted!

Willow went along for the hike. When on the ground, he wanted to stop and smell EVERYTHING! He had sensory overload on this outing! I carried him most of the way!

Beautiful Atlanta skyline...

The Thunderbirds took to the sky...

We stopped in a clearing along with other walkers to watch the air show.

Stone Mountain in the distance...

SKY DIVE...Plunging straight down!

Tricks in the sky...kind of like fireworks!

The kids pulled off the side of the trail to go potty. Uh oh! When someone unexpectedly came around the corner, Alaina placed her shoes in front of her to give the appearance that she was fully dressed!

Ansley resting on a rock with Willow...Look how big he has gotten!
