At the Doctor...

Alaina missed a couple days of school last week due to lots of coughing. I took her to Dr. Anderson's office to get her checked out after she had a fever the night before. He listened to her chest and back and was very alarmed by the way she sounded. He heard congestion in her lungs and wheezing. He gave her two back-to-back breathing treatments, plus a cough medicine, and a precautionary antibiotic. He said that she has bronchial asthma caused by seasonal allergies. She will be using an inhaler four times a day until she is better. Next year, he wants us to start using allergy medication in September to prevent her condition from getting to this stage. She has experienced these symptom every year in the fall since she was three or four years old. Hopefully she'll eventually grow out of it! She was a very big girl at the doctor and had excellent behavior in an uncomfortable situation! It was her last day as a seven-year-old!
