We headed for Illinois Tuesday morning for our Thanksgiving Break. Our first destination--Oakland, IL, to visit with the Bacons (Jeff's sister and her family). The drive went well. The girls were good for the most part and watched lots of movies. Willow was a great travel companion on his first big road trip. Jeff got the duty of taking him out to potty in grassy patches of parking lots along the way. We ate lunch at Waffle House, and a "grateful American" saw Jeff in his U.S. Armor sweatshirt and treated us to an anonymous free meal. That was so kind! We stopped off at Pizza Hut for supper, then arrived in Oakland around 8:30 PM. We enjoyed getting the grand tour of The Bacon household. Susan has done an amazing job with the house! More pictures of that to come later! The cousins were happy to spend time with one another, and Ansley was even surprised with a belated birthday gift. The next morning, we got up for breakfast. Guess what we had at The Bacon's???? Bacon, of course! Ha! Ha!! The kids played on the trampoline and drove a little golf cart. Jeff joined in, too, by hopping on a scooter! Meanwhile, we discovered what people in Oakland use for transportation on their streets...John Deere's! Our girls could definitely get into that! They love John Deere tractors! Willow went outside and had his first encounter with a fire hydrant. He would not stop barking at it for some strange reason! We also spent time in the morning playing with the Wii and Rock Star guitar game. We got to see Ed's church before heading to Bloomington. We got some really cool and unusual pictures there! Time for some sleep. More later...
