From The Pool To The Pier

We enjoyed a very leisurely day at the swimming pool. As long as we are in the shade, it is very comfortable outside. The girls found some toy cars in the drawers in their room, so they brought them along for fun!

Several times a day, the people gather at the local mosque. We can see it from one of the windows. It is interesting to watch the people file in and out, and to hear the music and chanting broadcasting from the loudspeakers.

My boxes arrived today!!! Before leaving the states, I mailed two boxes to Kuwait full of decorating accessories, brownie mix, Gevalia coffee, and scented candles. I was so excited to see the packages--now things are feeling a little more like home!

We headed down to the Family Park in the evening to check out where all the parties have been going on.

View of the apartment from the pier...

The apartment...

We spent at least an hour enjoying the pier, people watching, and collecting some amazing shells. As we watched people, quite a few people watched us. We saw only one other family that looked American or British... After collecting shells, the kids played on the playground until it was too dark to see. Some of the Arabic children showed a friendly interest in Alaina. She always seems to make new friends at the park and this was no exception. They followed her around like she was the leader. The big thing with the Kuwaiti children is toy pistols and guns that make pop sounds like a firecracker. They kept running around shooting their guns. It's been awhile since I've seen kids playing with somewhat realistic guns. No one spoke to us the whole time we were there. Very interesting...
